Forest losses balloon as price of reaching Premier League laid bare

City Ground

Nottingham Forest have reported substantial losses for the year to the end of June 2022, the season the club was promoted to the Premier League.

The drive for promotion came at a price for the Reds, as the club posted a deficit of £45.6m – a big rise from the close of £15.5m in 2021.

Turnover increased as the fans poured through the gates to see the team secure promotion via the Championship play-off route, rising from £18.4m in 2021 to £29.7m last year.

Administrative expenses shot up from £43.8m to £73.7m. The club put this down the matchday costs and the expense of getting promoted to the Premier League
