Major 348-apartment scheme on board with new name

How The Barnum will look

The name of a new build to rent scheme in Nottingham city centre has been named.

Grainger’s scheme, on Queens Road, will be called “The Barnum” after a unique fleet of train carriages which once connected Nottingham to London during Victorian Britain.

Constructed in 1910, the Barnum railway fleet operated the Great Central Main Line, previously the main transport link connecting the South of England to Marylebone London via Nottingham Railway Station.

The Barnum, which is located at Nottingham station, celebrates the railway’s history and its contribution to the city’s growth during the Victorian era.

The scheme includes 348 studio, one-, two- and three-bed apartments, plus a mezzanine level providing residents with a lounge, gym and co-working space.

Leesa Ingham, head of marketing at Grainger said: “When it comes to naming any Grainger development, we carefully consider the history of the site and surrounding local area.

“The Barnum is the chosen name for our first development in Nottingham, taking into consideration the proximity to Nottingham’s train station, further inspired by the distinctive train carriages which once operated through the city.”
