Plans for major cocktail bar hit brick wall

Plans for a major new cocktail bar in Nottingham city centre appear to have hit a brick wall.

In September, we reported that Arc Inspirations had submitted plans to open one of its Manahatta cocktail bars at the former Grade II listed former French Connection unit on Victoria Street.

However, despite it being eight months since the planning application was submitted, the new bar seems to be no nearer opening.

Arc Inspirations has proposed to refurbish the basement, ground and first floors of the Victoria Street site and intends to create a new mezzanine floor at Victoria Street.

But, these plans are being held up by concerns around the interior design of the Grade II building.

A spokesperson for Nottingham City Council told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We are waiting for further submission, mainly related to listed building issues.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Arc Inspirations recently told us: “We’re not in a position to share a progress update just yet.”

Despite the delay, Arc Inspirations has recently been successful in being granted planning permission for one of its BOX bars at 2-3 Thurland Street in Nottingham city centre.

When it unveiled plans for both bars, Arc said it would create 200 jobs in Nottingham.
