On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Avant Homes East Midlands has bolstered its commercial team with four new hires.

Richard Short and Richard Smith join the housebuilder as commercial director and commercial manager respectively, with Sophie Aitken joining as assistant buyer and Stephanie Mason as commercial assistant.

Short returns to Avant Homes having previously served as group commercial controls manager at the firm. He brings 27 years’ housebuilding industry experience to his new role, having also held positions at Keepmoat and Countryside Partnerships.

Smith will manage the company’s team of quantity surveyors, buyers and commercial assistants in the region. He previously worked for Mulberry Homes and Redrow.

Aitken steps into her first housebuilding role as an assistant buyer to the team, following eight years with flooring contractors Designer Contracts, Saint Flooring and Carters Flooring.

Mason has made the move from conveyancing to the regional commercial team, where she plans to train as a quantity surveyor. She previously held positions at My Home Move and AVRillo Conveyancing.

Avant Homes East Midlands managing director Richard Hosie said: “These appointments in our commercial team will play a pivotal role in achieving our ambitious growth plans for the region.

“They all bring a wealth of experience with them to Avant Homes from a variety of backgrounds and I look forward to working with the commercial team to help deliver our expansion strategy.”

Elsewhere, AGI Global Logistics has appointed two new directors at its Immingham office.

Karl Edwards and Lloyd Dennis bring a wealth of experience in the logistics sector to their respective positions. Edwards will focus on the operational side of the business at AGI, with Dennis taking charge of commercial.

Jesse Ramirez, the original director of AGI Immingham, will continue to drive the strategic side of the business.

Ramirez said: “Karl and Lloyd are two excellent additions to the senior leadership team, and both bring a wide range of experiences that will really help to grow the business.”

Edwards said: “I am delighted to be welcomed to the AGI Board. And I’m excited about the future development of AGI Immingham.”

Dennis added: “I can’t wait to get going! Being part of the future success of AGI Immingham is something I am really looking forward to.”
