Analogue instruments specialist sold as part of directors’ exit plans

A Stretford analogue instruments specialist has been acquired, for an undisclosed sum.

Record Electrical Associates (REA) has been acquired by Trent Instruments, a Nottingham-based pressure and temperature instrument specialist, having been advised by Bolton’s KBS Corporate during the process.

REA operates from dedicated facilities and offers high quality analogue instruments to international businesses.

The company was initially founded more than 100 years ago and has cemented itself at the forefront of a niche sector.

REA has been sold as part of Alan Johnson and Christopher McGrail’s retirement plans, both of whom maintained active roles as directors in the business.

Oliver Rigby, KBS corporate deal executive, said: “This was an exciting opportunity to represent a long standing company.

“I worked alongside Alan and Christopher to identify a quality buyer that would preserve REA’s legacy.”

Trent is a supplier of locomotive horns and the exclusive agent in the UK and Europe for Nathan AirChime.

Oliver added: “Trent is an excellent buyer for REA. The two companies benefited from a prior relationship which helped secure a great deal.”

Alan Johnson said: “We feel that Trent will be able to take the business forwards successfully.”
