‘Quintessentially British’ flooring business edges towards administration
A “quintessentially British” supplier of sustainable wood and laminate flooring is facing an uncertain future, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.
Silvan Select Limited is based in Thurlaston, Leicestershire. Trading as Silvan Floors, the firm crafts flooring from sustainably sourced timber for “leading international designers, architects and individuals around the world” and has completed projects in such sought-after locations as Knightsbridge Court and Sloane Street in London. Brands produced by the company include Silvan, Axedo and Genus.
Its base on Enderby Road has been used as a sawmill for over 60 years.
According to its last available accounts, made up to the end of 2021, the firm employs around 15 people. Documents seen by TheBusinessDesk.com show the company owed creditors £709,410 that year.
Silvan Select Limited filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators (NOI) on Wednesday (28 June) via The Wilkes Partnership.
A NOI is designed to protect a company from creditors for a period of ten days, giving its directors breathing space while they attempt to find a way to take the business forward.
As we went to press, it was unclear what caused Silvan to file the notice.
