Forest legend passes away aged 69

The player who scored Nottingham Forest’s most famous ever goal, Trevor Francis, has died.
Francis has passed away aged 69. He was the first player to be transferred in Britain for £1m when Brian Clough snapped him up from Birmingham City in February 1979.
He quickly repaid this huge (at the time) fee by scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 triumph over Malmö in May of that year to secure the first of Forest’s two consecutive European Cup wins.
Francis also represented England 52 times and later went on to play for Manchester City, in Italy for Sampdoria and Atalanta, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday.
A statement from his family said: “Trevor Francis has died at the age of 69. He had a heart attack at his apartment in Spain this morning. On behalf of the family, this has come as a huge shock to everybody. We are all very upset. He was a legendary footballer but he was also an extremely nice person.”
