The University of Nottingham has hosted its community open day at the new castle meadow campus (CMC), welcoming people from across the county and providing an opportunity to learn more about the vision for the site.

More than 100 individuals, including local councillors, business professionals and the general public, participated in the community open day.

The event offered a diverse programme of activities, which consisted of exhibitions, networking opportunities, Q&A session with the CMC team and a guided tour of the campus.

The exhibitions showed illustrations and plans of the facilities, resources and opportunities that will be accessible on campus, while, attendees had the chance to interact with not only members of CMC but also with representatives from local businesses and organisations.

The Q&A session allowed attendees to ask questions they may have had about the campus and its development and the tour offered an overview of the site and showcased the resources that will be available to students and the local community once fully operational.

Scheduled for its official opening in 2025, the campus is set to serve as a new location for Nottingham University business school (NUBS).

NUBS aims to explore avenues for teaching, research and partnership initiatives, expanding its postgraduate offerings.

A spokesperson from the University of Nottingham told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We’ll host events and create networking opportunities at Castle Meadow. We’re also giving employers and students the opportunity to work and learn together, ultimately preparing our students for life after university. For industry, it offers unparalleled access to academic research, talent and expertise which can help share their own practises and ambitions as well as creating an environment for like-minded professionals.”

The university says the campus will become a venue for various activities such as events, installations, demonstrations and digital showcases. These displays will encompass immersive technologies, AI, robotics and digital 3D mapping tools.

Provost and deputy vice-chancellor for the University or Nottingham, Jane Norman said: “Castle meadow campus will have its own buzzing identity thanks to its city centre location, and will be a celebration of digital innovation and collaboration with local industry and community alike.

“We take our responsibility as custodian of this landmark incredibly seriously and aim to deliver a bold vision for CMC, while still respective and honouring some of the city’s most iconic buildings.”
