nuom leads the conversation on Hepatitis C elimination

Alex Barker

At the UX Healthcare Conference, which is taking place on September 21 and 22 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin, digital healthcare agency nuom will be sharing its experience of collaborating on the home testing service that is boosting the prospects of Hepatitis C elimination in the United Kingdom.

Working alongside other healthcare specialists, nuom played a major role in the design of the online testing service which is now being widely supplied by the National Health Service in England.

Alex Barker, Service Design Lead at nuom, will be leading the conversation and visitors to the conference will be able to join his talk at 11:00 am on September 21.

Alex will discuss the process through which nuom delivered the user-centred design and prototyping of the portal alongside Preventx who won the bid, and the Hepatitis C Trust.

nuom’s goal was to learn the extent to which a range of potential HCV risk-group cohorts might become aware of Hepatitis C and the associated risks, leading them to take action by ordering a self-testing kit online.

“This project is an extremely important one not only for nuom, but also for society as whole”, explained Alex.

“There are approximately 118,000 chronic Hepatitis C cases in the UK and, according to the WHO, over 1.75 million new infections per year globally. The home testing kits are already helping to eliminate this debilitating disease, and we are proud to be a part of the solution. We look forward to sharing our experience and answering attendees’ questions with the aim that this project will help others on their own healthcare discovery journey.”
