£3.5m engineering workshop expansion approved for Derby College

Blueprint design revealed by Derby Collage

Planning officers have approved a £3.5m expansion of Derby College, which includes enlarging the Stephenson building at its Roundhouse campus in Pride Park.

This expansion project aims to create additional motor vehicle workshops and learning areas for engineering students, with the goal of opening these facilities in September of the following year.

Planning documents submitted to the council said the new centre would “enable the provision of specialist motor vehicle workshops and teaching spaces supporting a wide range of engineering disciplines with an emphasis on sustainable engineering practices and digital design principles.”

The plans were officially approved earlier this month by Derby City Council, with plans being described as “high quality.”
