One Beyond discount chain eyes 50 ex-Wilko stores

One Beyond is considering the acquisition of approximately 50 former Wilko locations, with the final agreements anticipated to be reached by October 25.

This discount retailer has already reached agreements to take over two previous Wilko stores in Boston and Chelmsford.

Additionally, they are currently engaged in negotiations for a third location, as stated by the company’s chairman, Christ Edwards Sr, in a conversation with The Grocer.

The founder of Poundworld revealed that One Beyond is actively in discussions with landlords who are seeking to re-lease these vacant retail spaces previously occupied by Wilko after they ceased operations.

Established in 2019, One Beyond aims to expand by opening an additional 10 stores within the current year, aligning with its goal of reaching 150 stores by November 2024
