A Leicester-based company has received a £10,000 penalty for neglecting to clean up the former King William IV pub site in Earl Shilton, where building waste, general rubbish, and other debris were left for over a year.

Despite receiving multiple requests from the council, the land-owning company, Regis Development Group, based in St Matthews Business Centre, Leicester, did not address the issue.

As a result, the company has now been fined £10,000.

The problem was initially reported by local residents to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council in August 2022.

Following Regis Development’s disregard for informal advice from the council, the authority’s Clean Neighbourhood team issued the initial Community Protection Notice to the landowner on December 1, 2022.

This notice mandated that Regis Development clean up the area by January 6, 2023. However, this requirement was neglected, and the debris remained.

On Wednesday, October 18, the matter was brought to court, and the company was penalised for its failure to rectify the situation.
