Controversial apartment plans for one of Leicestershire’s busiest junctions

A new proposal to construct apartments in an area known as one of Leicestershire’s busiest junctions has been revealed.

Originally, there were plans to build assisted living flats at the intersection of Central Road and Grange Road in Hugglescote, near Coalville, however, this idea sparked controversy.

The applicant, Evo Real Estate aims to build five apartments on the site where there is currently a vacant and partly demolished building.

According to planning documents, if the plan is approved the proposal involves constructing a two-storey building with two apartments on the ground floor, two on the first floor and a single room on the second floor.

Each apartment would consist of one bedroom and accommodate two people.

However, Evo Real Estate mentioned that no parking space would be provided.

This ‘eco-friendly’ approach has sparked disagreement with residents doubting the adequacy of current transport connections if they don’t have a parking space.

North West Leicestershire District Council will assess and decide on this new proposal at a later date.
