The Nottingham office of law firm Freeths has revealed it provided advice on EG Group’s sale of its UK operations to Asda for £2.07bn.

EG Group is a British retail company operating gas stations, convenience stores and fast-food restaurants in Europe, the United States and Australia.

The transaction was managed by Freeths’ Nottingham office, under the guidance of partner Atiyya Khaliq, managing associate Michaela Mason and other associates from the branch, along with additional support from their Glasgow colleagues.

Khaliq said: “It’s been wonderful to work with the EG Group team and its corporate and tax advisers Skadden and EY on this sale which has been a testament to the business and its stakeholders all working together to complete the transaction. This deal has played on the strengths of our Freeths national Real Estate capabilities.

“Marking a new chapter for EG Group, we look forward to seeing what’s next in store.”
