61 homes approved in Hinckley
Developer Owl Homes has acquired land south of Wood Lane in Higham on the Hill to build 61 homes.
The land purchase was announced in August, and while the development received initial approval from an application by Mr R Jones in 2021, the recent application focused on the finer details of the scheme.
This week, members of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s plans committee approved Owl Homes’ application.
The project will include 14 four-bedroom homes, 26 three-bedroom homes, 17 two-bedroom properties, and four one-bedroom maisonettes.
Additionally, there are plans for a shop, play area, and open space.
Nearly 30 residents raised objections to the recent application, expressing concerns about potential traffic congestion, added strain on village facilities, and adverse effects on the countryside.
However, Councillor Chris Boothby explained that, despite understanding the concerns, the committee lacked grounds to reject the application since the site had already received initial planning permission.
