Property firm plays part in transforming listed building in Lincolnshire

Alfredo Lounge, Louth

Eddisons has played a role in the transformation of a listed building in the Lincolnshire market town of Louth, which has been revitalised into a food and leisure destination by its new occupants.

Loungers plc, a café/bar group, recently opened Alfredo Lounge in Louth at the former Eve & Ranshaw department store on 1 Market Place in the town centre.

The deal was facilitated by the Lincoln office of Eddisons, formerly Banks Long & Co, acting as the letting agent for the landlord and serving as the development consultant for the refurbishment project.

Alfredo Lounge in Louth is part of Loungers plc’s plan to open 35 new locations in the financial year.

After considering various property options, the group secured the 1 Market Place premises through Eddisons following the closure of the Eve & Ranshaw department store in February.

Eddisons and Loungers plc highlighted that the historic features of the late 18th-Century property, such as the original staircase, fireplaces and skirting details, have been preserved as key elements in repurposing the building for its new modern dining and socialising use.

Gemma Irwin, community manager at Loungers, said, “As a brand, our Lounges strive to put the community at the heart of hospitality and we aim to be a neighbourhood café/bar combining elements of coffee shop culture, the British pub and a good dining experience. Our sites are characterised by informal, unique interiors with an emphasis on a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Our new Louth location and premises perfectly complement the Lounge brand spirit.”

Tim Bradford, director at Eddisons, said: “It’s a real testament to the drive and commitment of all parties involved that the deal and refurbishment project have come together so swiftly to ensure the continued commercial use of this fine, landmark Louth building which first opened its doors for trading in 1781.”
