Direct mail firm alerts administrators

A Leicester-based direct mail firm which was bought when its parent company collapsed in 2020 is itself facing an uncertain future, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.

Mailbox DM, which operates from Scudamore Lane in the city, has posted a notice of intention (NOI) to appoint administrators through law firm Excello – a move that will protect the firm for a period of around ten days.

Mailbox DM was sold when its then parent company, the historic Leicester firm Taylor Bloxham, went under in February 2020. At the time some 150 jobs were lost.

The deal to sell Mailbox DM saw 21 jobs saved, however.

In its latest accounts, made up to the end of March 2023, the firm said it employed around 18 people. At the time it had assets of just over £650,000 and was owed £310,315 by creditors.

Mailbox DM is the second direct mail to fall on hard times in the East Midlands recently; last week, The Mailshop, which is based in Hucknall, posted a notice of intention to appoint administrators via law Shoosmiths.
