Building society achieves Climate Partner status
The Melton Building Society has been recognised for its dedication to sustainability by landing the Climate Partner accreditation.
The recognition is a result of the Society’s comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility, which encompasses evaluating and reducing emissions, executing green initiatives and supporting external climate projects – all while maintaining a transparent record of its progress.
Notable efforts include advancing towards a 10% reduction in staff commuting by 2025 through an electric vehicle scheme and providing free EV charging points, transitioning to 100% green energy usage by 2024 aided by solar panel installations, and adopting a flexible work policy to further cut down commuting emissions.
The Society has conducted “thorough” assessments of its corporate carbon footprint to pinpoint and mitigate emission sources, set ambitious goals to increase the use of green electricity progressively by 2025 and committed to full green energy procurement by 2030.
It is also financially supporting certified climate projects that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is committed to transparency via the Climate Partner label.
A statement from the Society said: “The Melton Building Society’s efforts in climate action demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and encourages others in the financial sector to follow suit.”
