Brewery and pubco raises a glass to soaring profits

Tynemill, the firm which owns Castle Rock Brewery, the Nottingham brewery and pubco, says it is “well prepared to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead” after it almost doubled its profits.

The company, which operates 22 pubs as well as a brewery in Nottingham city centre, saw profit after tax for the year to the end of March 2023 come in at £863,435 – up from £434,246 in 2022.

Turnover at the firm, which employs around 190 people, also rose from £7.7m to £9.6m over the period.

A statement signed off by director Colin Wilde said that Castle Rock had “returned to a semblance of normalcy” after the shocks of the Covid period.

It added: “Our directors believe that our company is well-prepared to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Our primary focus will be on maintaining sound business practices to ensure sustainability and adequate returns, rather than aggressively pursuing growth as our primary objective.”
