Approval has been granted to dismantle horse stables and introduce business units, despite concerns about pollution and increased traffic expressed by residents.

A P Garland and Jubilee Farm Developments, the applicants ensured that the project would bring investment to Appleby Magna.

The developers aim to expand the existing business park by demolishing the stables and constructing three detached buildings, thereby creating five new business units.

According to planning documents, the proposed units are designed to resemble converted former agricultural buildings, aligning with the aesthetics of the current Jubilee Business Park.

Concerns were raised by residents regarding potential light pollution stemming from floodlights on the site.

Officials from North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) assured that measures would be implemented to address these concerns.

The council stated that it did not anticipate the proposed units leading to an “unacceptably intense form of development” in the village. Additionally, the council believed that the raised concerns were not substantial enough to warrant an outright rejection of the plans.

The applicants said the units would “attract investment” and deliver “social, economic, and environmental benefits” to Appleby Magna. In alignment with these views, councillors labelled the proposals as “sustainable.”
