Accommodation plans in for historic former head office of law firm

The former Fraser Brown offices in Nottingham

The former head office of historic law firm Fraser Brown could be turned into tourist accommodation, according to new plans submitted to Nottingham City Council.

The Grade II Victorian offices at 84 Friar Lane had been the offices of a former incarnation of Fraser Brown since around 1910. They were vacated shortly after Knights bought Fraser Brown in an £8.3m deal in February 2020.

The property was then sold to a Mr and Mrs Hunt in 2023 after efforts to let it as offices for 18 months had failed to raise any interest.

A planning statement reads: “The building has been vacant for over three years and requires a new occupier to bring the building into an active and viable use, ensuring that the property is maintained for the next stage of its life.

“The provision of tourist accommodation within the city centre and Castle Quarter will bring considerable public benefit, not just through the preservation of heritage assets but through supporting the viability of other heritage assets within the city’s tourist offering.”
