Plans for student scheme in former cinema get green light

Fresh plans to turn a disused cinema next to Nottingham railway station into student flats have been given the go-ahead by the city council’s planning committee.
Zen Nottingham Limited looks has got the green light for the scheme, on Queens Road, which will include 31 studios and 50-bed cluster apartments.
Plans for a similar scheme that would’ve provided 39 residential apartments and retail units were approved back in 2020, but have been scrapped in favour of student accommodation.
The new scheme is being designed by CPMG Architects and is much the same as its predecessor – but without the retail element.
