Automotive tech provider appoints former leader of House of Commons
Automative technology provider, Road Angel has announced the appointment of Sir Mark Spencer, as partnerships director of the Road Angel Board of directors.
Spencer worked as a former Conservative MP for Sherwood and Leader of the House of Commons.
As a Member of Parliament, he has served on various committees, including the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs Select Committee.
In 2016, he was appointed to the Government Whips Office as assistant Government whip, before progressing to several high-ranking roles.
It included serving as Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury from 2017 to 2018, Vice Chamberlain of HM Household in 2018 and Comptroller of HM Household from 2018 to 2019.
A milestone in his career came in July 2019, when Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed him to the Cabinet as Government Chief Whip and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury.
Spencer remained in this role until February 2022, when he was appointed Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council.
After the election of Prime Minister Liz Truss, he transitioned to the department for environment, food and rural affairs as Minister of State.
He was reappointed to the same role under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
In recognition of his service, Spencer was appointed King’s Bachelor by His Majesty the King in March 2024, earning him the title of Sir Mark Spencer.
With his new role at Road Angel, Sir Mark is expected to leverage his vast network and strategic insight to build new partnerships that will drive innovation and growth for the company. His extensive background in government and policy, particularly in areas such as the environment and rural affairs, positions him as a valuable asset to the company as it continues to expand its footprint in the road safety sector.
This appointment marks a new chapter for Sir Mark, as he brings his leadership experience into the business world, contributing to Road Angel’s mission of enhancing road safety and driver experience across the UK.
