Leicester’s Dock 3-5 dives into tech innovation with grand opening
Dock 3–5 in Leicester’s Space City has officially opened, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Leicester City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby.
The flexible workspace is located in the Space City Enterprise Zone and supports Leicester’s low-carbon hub for high-tech industries and innovative businesses.
It is intended to boost local businesses and job creation, with initial tenants including Kazzoo IT Solutions, Somerbys IT, IN Focus ITS and others.
The latest Dock buildings expand on Dock 1 and 2, which are currently fully occupied.
Soulsby welcomed the new tenants and emphasised the hub’s potential for regional economic growth.
The buildings, designed to be net carbon zero, rely on electricity for heating and include eco-friendly features such as bird boxes, retained trees, and minimised lighting to protect wildlife.
Once fully occupied, the site will host over 120 businesses and 600 employees.
The project was funded through the Levelling Up Fund, developed by Brackley Property Developments and built by Wilten Construction.
Crystal Carter, workspace development manager at Dock, said: “After months of hard work, we’re so pleased to see this ribbon finally cut and the doors officially open. Dock 3–5 represents the future of managed workspaces, where innovative businesses can grow while contributing to Leicester’s drive toward net zero and a more sustainable future. Both economically and environmentally.
“We’re excited to welcome a new set of companies to this vibrant community, which is a testament to the success of what we’ve built with Dock 1-2. Please speak to us if you want to join the community.”
