Two large solar farms proposed on land near Leicestershire villages
A proposal has been submitted for two large solar farms on land near the Leicestershire villages of Saddington and Kibworth Harcourt by Starlight Energy Operations UK.
Planning documents submitted to Harborough District Council indicate that the sites could produce enough electricity to power around 8,000 homes annually for 40 years.
Covering about 96 acres equivalent to 54 football pitches—one farm would be located east of Kibworth Road in Saddington and the other north of Wistow Road in Kibworth Harcourt.
The raised solar panels would allow for continued agricultural use, such as sheep grazing.
The council is currently reviewing a screening opinion, with a full planning application expected later.
