East Midlands businesses optimistic for 2025

East Midlands businesses are entering 2025 with renewed optimism, according to Lloyds’ latest Business Barometer,

The survey reveals that 62% of firms expect their turnover to grow in the year ahead, up from 57% in December 2023, with a quarter anticipating increases of more than 10%.

Additionally, 71% predict improved profitability, rising from 67% last year.

Businesses are focusing on growth strategies, including staff upskilling, productivity improvements and adopting technology such as AI and automation.

Over a quarter of businesses also plan to increase employee wages, while 22% intend to expand their workforce.

Dave Atkinson, regional director for the East Midlands at Lloyds, said: “It’s great to see greater optimism from East Midlands businesses for both turnover and profitability growth as we approach the new year. As businesses move forward with their plans – from investing in people to targeting improved productivity – we’ll remain with our support to help them realise their ambitions.”
