Former England striker joins Notts company as director

Emile Heskey

Nottinghamshire-based national security services company, Octavian Security UK, has hired a former international footballer as director of the company.

Former Leicester City, Aston Villa, Liverpool and England footballer Emile Heskey, who is the guest speaker at our Networking Lunch next week, has joined the Nottinghamshire firm.

The move is the culmination of a lifelong friendship between Heskey and Octavian founder Sukhi Ghuman.

Ghuman said: “This is a move that has been long in the making. What we will benefit from having Emile in the business is how an elite performer can bring with them the same DNA as a winner in the corporate world.

“Emile understands from his days at the top of football that you need inner strength and determination to succeed, but that we also need to harness our skills and concentrate on our health if Octavian is going to continue to lead the way in our industry. I can’t wait to watch him make a huge impact on Octavian.”

Heskey added: “I’m delighted to finally join Octavian. The company is a real route for progression for me. I first met Sukhi at school and we’ve really worked on this relationship for the last 15 years.

“The business and corporate world offers great rewards for elite athletes and they share so many synergies with elite entrepreneurs. It’s my mission to encourage more athletes into the business world to not only learn, but also share their winning mindset and help businesses grow.”

Heskey enjoyed a professional football career spanning more than two decades. He played 633 club career games, scoring 130 goals. He also won 62 England caps, scoring seven goals for his country.
