New cocktail bar in Nottingham set to open doors

A new cocktail bar near Nottingham Castle has been given the go-ahead by the city council.
JRA Bars will open the new venue in the space formerly occupied by champagne and cocktail bar French 75.
JRA Bars, which is run by James Aspell, will redevelop the first and second floors of 92 Friar Lane, adding space for 10 guests on the first floor along with storage and prep space and customer toilets.
The second floor will be used for office space for the bar and its associated businesses.
The ground floor use and operation would remain largely unchanged save for redecoration and re-branding. The new operators intend to run the venue with full table service.
A planning statement submitted to the council reads: “There are many other Leisure uses nearby including Fothergills, The Castle pub and Viet 80s all helping to energise this old area of the city. The ground floor use as a cocktail bar fits this local mix well and adds to the local amenity.”
Six new jobs will be created. The name of the new bar has remained undisclosed.
