Scissor lift accident in Northampton injuries two

A construction site accident in Northampton resulted in severe injuries to two workers when the platform of a large scissor lift detached and fell.
The incident occurred at a site managed by Winvic Construction.
There was initial speculation that the project was linked to Amazon, but this has been proven false.
The equipment involved was a 65ft LGMG SR2024E electric rough terrain scissor lift, previously owned by Premier Plant & Tool Hire and now under the ownership of Winvic.
Premier Plant & Tool Hire has no connection to Premier Platforms.
Reports indicate that the lift was fully extended with its deck deployed at the time of the incident and may have come into contact with a large water pipe, potentially leading to the platform’s detachment.
Both workers fell along with the platform, sustaining severe injuries.
More reports suggest that one of the individuals has stabilised, while the other remains in critical condition with life-altering injuries.
The UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has launched an investigation, with inspectors visiting the site on March 26 in coordination with Northamptonshire Police.
The lift’s manufacturer, LGMG, has dispatched technicians to assist with the inquiry and has postponed a scheduled open-day event as a result.
