Historic Leicester school sold

One of Leicester’s oldest schools has been sold to Leicester Grammar School.
Stoneygate School which was formed in the 19th Century and is based on a 45 acre site in Great Glen, provides pre-school, pre-prep and prep for both boys and girls feeding secondary schools in the Leicestershire and Rutland area and currently has 196 pupils.
Grant Thornton led the transaction on behalf of Stoneygate School.
Eddie Williams, partner in Grant Thornton’s Midlands Advisory business, said: “I am delighted to have supported this sale, not only on behalf of Stoneygate School but for the children, parents and the 57 staff who can look forward to being part of the Leicester Grammar School educational offering.
“Following the decision of the owners of the school to retire, an agreement between two of Leicester’s most well regarded schools had considerable benefits and I wish them all the very best for the future.”
