Forest chairman asks for patience over club sale

Nottingham Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has said that an investment deal to buy the club is imminent, but has asked supporters to be patient.

In a statement on the Forest website, Al Hasawi stressed the need to “conduct our business in private to ensure the best possible outcome for Forest”.

He added: “I am unable to go into specific detail on the reported investment at the moment but I am confident that a significant deal will be completed very soon.”

Forest are still without a manager – something which has concerned fans as the club looks to prepare for a pre-season campaign.

Al Hasawi said: “We are also progressing well with our search for a manager. As I stated at the start of the summer, this was always going to be a carefully thought-out appointment and, although it has taken a little longer than I would have liked, I hope to be in a position to make an appointment shortly.

“In addition, I have been working hard to recruit a director of football. Discussions have been very positive with a number of candidates and I am confident we can reach an agreement.

“Announcements will be made via official Forest channels when appropriate. In the meantime I ask fans to remain patient, with my assurance that everyone is working very hard behind the scenes for the good of the club’s future.”
