Monk Estates plans major ‘young professionals’ housing scheme

A Nottingham developer is hoping to bring a ten-storey residential development to the Lace Market area of Nottingham.
Monk Estates, which was responsible for the Trinity Square development in the city, has submitted plans for a new residential development for ‘young professionals’.
A statement from London-based architect Levitate said: “The developer has found a new gap in the market due to the abundance of student developments in the city.”
“The proposed scheme will be sited on the London Road roundabout, next to Magpie Security’s proposed head office, which has yet to be revealed.”
Monk Estates said: “Our proposal is not for students, but for young professionals who want to enjoy all that the city has to offer, we feel passionately that this development ticks all the boxes in delivering a high spec, high quality scheme as well as being ideally located for work and key transport hubs.
Monk Estates has been responsible for some of the most high-profile commercial property schemes in Nottingham over the past two decades. It has built and redeveloed the former Nottigham Post and British Waterways buildings as part of the Castle Wharf development, The Royal Bank of Scotland head office on Maid Marian Way, Trinity Square, and most recently the redevelopment of the former Odeon Cinema site.
Representatives from Monk Estates and Levitate have met with planning officials from Nottingham City Council to talk through the plans which will now be decided on by the planning committee.
