Fast-growth law firm reaches £21m turnover

A “FAST-GROWTH” law firm is celebrating reaching £21m in revenues for the first time.
Ambitious firm Knights opened its seventh office in Derby one year ago and it says it is now on track to reach £40m in revenues by 2017.
Since 2011 it has doubled its revenues and increased staff numbers from 160 to 460. From its head office in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, it has grown to include offices in Cheltenham,Hale, Botley Chester and Colchester.
The Derby office has recruited 32 people in the past 12 months.
David Beech, chief executive of the ABS law firm said the decision to open in Derby was the right one and has helped contribute to this success.
“We’re supporting more businesses in the East Midlands and nationwide, thanks to our full service offering which includes non-law specialist services, alongside our legal expertise,” he said.
“We have attracted some of the Midlands most talented lawyers thanks to the culture we have created which turns the traditional partnership model of a law firm on its head.
“We reward people on merit and everyone at Knights, including our ‘non-legal’ professionals, knows that by working hard and demonstrating their commitment to the firm, that career progression is a reality.
“Our success is testament to the hard work of everyone who works at Knights and we have plans to grow further to become the number one regional professional services business in the UK.”
Andrew Pilkington, office leader at the Pride Park office said: “It’s been a fantastic year for everyone based here. We have significantly grown our specialist services to include experts in franchising, data protection, banking and tax and estates, as well as strengthening our existing real estate, corporate and commercial, employment and private client teams.”
