Northants care home group in double swoop
Northampton-based Adara Group has acquired two care homes; Burlington Hall in Woburn Sands and The Shrubbery in Higham Ferrers.
Adara Group was established in January 2016 by Sue Hanspaul, alongside her husband Mike and son Sandy Hanspaul. Sue Hanspaul has been involved with the running of both Burlington Hall and The Shrubbery since their inception and this deal sees her acquire full ownership of both homes under the Adara Group.
Burlington Hall is located on Station Road in Woburn Sands and delivers professional care to older residents with physical disability and dementia. It has capacity for 53 residents with 51 single rooms and one double. The Shrubbery is situated on College Street in Higham Ferrers and also specialises in the same kind of care for the elderly. It accomodates 45 residents with single rooms including en suite facilities.
Sue Hanspaul was formerly a community pharmacist and has been a care home operator since 1988. She has already begun plans to enhance the current facilities available at both care homes. This includes a programme of refurbishment and raising the standards of care even further.
A funding package for the deals was provided by RBS
She said: “I am so pleased to complete the acquisition of Burlington Hall and The Shrubbery giving us 100% control. These are homes I know very well having been involved in their running since they were both established.
“We have plans to look at all aspects of the homes and renovation work has commenced at Burlington Hall to modernise and improve the facilities.
“Our focus is on our residents and ensuring they have access to the highest possible standards of care in comfortable surroundings. Graham Tallyn at the Royal Bank of Scotland has done a great job in supporting us with this transaction, he has been flexible and supportive.”
