Sports Direct acting finance boss quits

The acting chief financial officer of Shirebrook-based Sports Direct, Matt Pearson, is set to leave his role at the end of the year.

Sports Direct has appointed Herbert Monteith, a long-standing member of the finance team, as interim head of finance, which is not a Board position.

Mike Ashley, chief executive, said: “Matt has been a valued member of the Sports Direct family for over nine years and he will be a loss to the company. I wish him all the best for the future and would like to thank him for his time at Sports Direct.”

Sports Direct also announced this morning that trading remains in line with the company’s announcement on 7 October 2016 when it said profits would be hit by £15m following the turbulence surrounded exchange rates for the pound.
