Derby joinery firm bids to bring 24 jobs to Victory Park

Seamers' proposed new HQ

Plans that will enable an historic family business in Derby to nearly treble its footprint have been lodged with Derby City Council.

Property investment firm Revelan has applied to build a 17,362 sq ft joinery and office facility at 1 Victory Road, Victory Park for Seamers Specialist Joinery of Derby, which can trace its roots back to 1875.

Seamers currently operates out of just 6,500 sq ft on Sir Francis Ley Park in Derby. The move will bring 24 jobs to Victory Park.

In a planning statement, agents Lever, Turner & Cowdell said: “The proposal will make a significant and positive contribution to the local economy providing a diverse range of new job opportunities, in accordance with the key aims of National and Local planning policy.”

Specialist joiner Seamers has been awarded grant aid and finance for the development by the Derbyshire Enterprise Growth Fund. A condition of the grant is to
generate new jobs.
