Fast-growing insurance start-up adds premium talent

Daniel Lloyd-John, chief executive of Broadway Insurance Brokers

A boutique insurance firm has made two senior appointments after making a fast start in its first three months.

Broadway Insurance Brokers has generated more than £500,000 in premiums in only three months since first opening its doors.

It says it already represents “many of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs and wealthiest individuals”. Broadway is backed by a heavyweight board, including Reg Rix, the co-founder of Car Finance 247, Brian Hay, chief executive of logistics services provider Cardinal, and Christian Pepper, the founder and chief executive of the Financial Options Group.

Mr Lloyd-John added: “Reg, Christian and Brian are all serial entrepreneurs in their own right. For individuals who have experienced their level of commercial success to become involved with us is a major statement in itself.”

The Altrincham firm has recruited the current president of the Manchester Insurance Institute Eleanor Moore as its private client director, while Geraint Jones has joined as senior private client executive.

Chief Executive Daniel Lloyd-John, launched Broadway after a six-year spell with Marsh and McLennan, said plans were well advanced for a series of other “significant” appointments as the firm expands still further in the months to come.

“I think that the progress which we have made since we launched bears out the reason for starting the business,” he said.

“Having worked in the insurance industry in the North West for some time, I was aware of the opinion that there simply wasn’t a broker which specialised in supporting some of those individuals who have helped make the region’s economy so vibrant.”
