Record number of promotions for JMW as revenues surge

Manchester-headquartered law firm JMW Solicitors has reported a 25% increase in income following another record year.

Reporting its 2021/22 financial results, the firm saw revenues climb to £66.6m, up from £53.2m in the previous year.

The firm’s London office, which opened in May 2019, contributed £15.7m of the revenue compared to £10.5m in the previous year, a 48% increase.

The Manchester office revenue grew by 19% compared to the previous financial year. During the last financial year most departments across the firm continued to increase their revenue.

JMW’s law firm referral scheme Lawshare now has 650 law firm members nationally. Revenue for the 2021/22 financial year was £5.4m, an increase of 89%.

Revenue generated by JMW’s website was up by 40% from £4.8m to £7m.

Key JMW clients for the year included Real Estate Client HSPG, a social impact real estate company headquartered in Manchester focusing on ESG investment which was set up to work on solving the UK homeless crisis.

The work undertaken has involved working on a number of projects from both affordable and social housing, creating accommodation for asylum seekers and the vulnerable.

The team worked on schemes delivering over 3,500 beds with deal value in excess of £100m.

Another key client for both the London and Manchester office was Pulseroll. The Sports and Commercial teams have advised Pulseroll relating to an investment and brand ambassador agreement with Anthony Joshua.

The team have also advised Pulseroll on multiple partnership deals, including with Leicester City, Sale Sharks, British Gymnastics, British Rowing and Team UAE.

JMW has also announced a wealth of promotions across the firm which have taken effect from 1 May 2022.

There are a record 58 promotions across all three offices, with 44 promotions in Manchester, 12 promotions in London and 1 in Liverpool.

There have been 8 promotions to Fixed Share Equity for Andrew Stone in Real Estate Commercial, Breda Fallon in Real Estate Residential, Katie Lowe and Tracey Rodford in Family Law, Oliver Wright in Commercial Litigation, Sam Healey in Business Crime & Regulation, James Williams in Insolvency and Restructuring and Victoria Gerezsi in HR.

There has also been a further 11 promotions to Partner for Aleksandra Yuskina in Immigration, London, Marta Pink in Banking, Chris Fallows and Sahar Handford in Business Crime & Regulation, Katherine Smith in Court of Protection, Laura Wharton in Employment, Louise Wakely in Commercial Litigation, Layla Atha in Real Estate Residential, Max Swindley and Shaun Singh in Real Estate Financial and Ruth Kearns in Family Law, Liverpool.

There were also a further 14 promotions from Associate to Senior Associate and 23 promotions from Solicitor to Associate across both the Manchester and London offices.
