Smart Hospitality wins £40m EventCity contract

PEEL Group has handed a 10-year catering contract for its EventCity exhibition space to London-based Smart Hospitality.
In a statement the group said the contract was worth £2.5m in the first year and £40m over the full term.
EventCity, next door to the Trafford Centre, has 300,000 sq ft of space.
The former Argos warehouse was relaunched by Peel as the Museum of Museums exhibiting Tutankhamun’s Treasures, before being rebranded. It has since hosted the X-Factor.
Smart’s chief executive Greg Lawson said: “This is a very exciting time for Smart Hospitality as we see our client portfolio extend with this prestigious contract with EventCity. The venue is a fantastic space and will appeal to a whole host of potential users from conferences, dinners, parties, exhibitions and plenty more.”
Andy Orr, managing director of EventCity, said: “From the outset of negotiation it was clear that they shared our values of being quality driven, innovative, creative and passionate about delivering events. I look forward to working with all at Smart and raising the benchmark for event delivery.”
