Property group wound up after failing to pay

THREE Lancashire letting and estate agents have been wound up after failing to refund tenants’ deposits and pass on rents to landlords.

Saxtons (Residential Lettings) Ltd, Saxtons Residential Ltd and Saxtons (Burnley) Ltd have all been shut down in the High Court following an investigation by Companies Investigation Branch of the Insolvency Service.

The investigation found that numerous complaints had been made by landlords and tenants about the wrongful retention of rental payments and deposits.

The Insolvency Service said the companies, “falsely represented that they were members of industry bodies, thereby implying a level of protection of monies collected on behalf of landlords and tenants as well as the application of defined standards of customer care.”

In winding up the companies the High Court found that they had traded in a manner which was contrary to the public interest.

Saxtons (Residential Lettings) was based at Holmefield Lodge, Barley Holme Road, Crawshawbooth, Rossendale. Saxtons Residential was registered to 24 Kay Street, Rawtenstall and Saxtons (Burnley) was based at 602 Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth, Rossendale.
