£15m expansion for Stanley House Hotel

STANLEY House has been given the green light for a £15m development, more than quadrupling its capacity and creating 70 new jobs at the boutique hotel.

The 12-bed hotel, based in Mellor, is set to grow considerably with an additional 40 bedrooms, a fitness centre and 18m swimming pool, while a new 90-seat brasserie will add to the existing formal restaurant.

The new development, which has been privately funded,  will add a total of 7,500 sq m to the existing grade II-listed building, 2,500 sq m of which is covered by the new spa.

The spa will include a hydro therapy pool, jacuzzi, salt, ice and steam treatments, sauna hot benches and an external hot tub and a fire pit. There are also to be eight personal treatment suites with razul, dry float facilities and relaxation rooms.

Simon Glassbrook, director of Stanley House, said: “We started creating something very special here back in 2004.These plans will give us the opportunity to continue to build a unique destination in the Ribble Valley and propel us into a whole new market both nationally and internationally.”

Detailed plans and designs will be drawn up and finalised this year, with tenders being invited during 2010 with work due to start in 2011.
