Tributes paid after death of David Hopkins

TRIBUTES have been paid to North West businessman David Hopkins, who has died after a long battle against cancer.
Mr Hopkins, who was president of the Stockport Chamber of Commerce as well as chairman of ADS Worldwide, passed away last weekend aged 73.
A keen exponent of international trade with China, Mr Hopkins received an OBE for his business and charitable work.
He began his second term as president of Stockport Chamber last year and was due to step down this October.
He also served twice as a director on the board of Greater Manchester Chamber.
Peter Heginbotham OBE, President of Greater Manchester Chamber, said: “David represented all that was best in a Chamber of Commerce director.
“Enthusiasm, leadership, an instinctive understanding of what businesses need and an ability to communicate it effectively. We will all miss him greatly.”
Chris Fletcher, deputy chief executive of Greater Manchester Chamber, said: “Everyone at the Chamber was saddened to hear of the death of David Hopkins. He was a great ambassador for both the Chamber and Stockport.
“
He had a long association with the Chamber and was heavily involved in both Stockport Local Chamber Council and Stockport Breakfast Club. He brought great enthusiasm to his role as president and he will be missed by all who met and worked with him.”
