Irwin Mitchell Manchester announces One St Peter’s Square move
The Manchester office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced it is to relocate to One St Peter’s Square in June 2018.
The firm has signed a 15-year lease with a break clause after 10 for 33,300 sq ft of office space and will occupy one and a half floors in the 13-storey building.
It will move from its current base at Bauhaus on Quay Street.
Roy Beckett, regional office managing partner at Irwin Mitchell in Manchester, said: “We are extremely excited and look forward to what will be a transformational move for Irwin Mitchell in Manchester.
“One St Peter’s Square is a superb building and this move represents a significant milestone and clearly demonstrates our commitment to our people, our clients and the city.
“We considered a number of properties across the city and decided that One St Peter’s Square’s location, particularly its proximity to the city’s main transport links, offered Irwin Mitchell with the best option.”
Completed in 2014, One St Peter’s Square is opposite Manchester’s Central Library and is in the heart of the city’s business district. It is adjacent to the Metrolink tram station and is a few minutes’ walk from Piccadilly and Oxford Road stations.
The new office will be home to over 200 members of staff from the firm’s business and personal legal services divisions. The Irwin Mitchell Group’s debt recovery subsidiary, Ascent, will also be based there.
Beckett added: “Moving to One St Peter’s Square is a real statement of our intent. Not only will it meet our aspirations for growth, it also reflects` our ambition to be recognised as the leading provider of both personal and business legal services within the region.”
Last November, Irwin Mitchell Manchester announced the recruitment of three specialist and experienced Court of Protection partners from Slater & Gordon. Lucy Nicol joined last year while Damian Hodkinson and Gillian Hitchen moved across in January.
In December, Irwin Mitchell in Manchester also appointed two new corporate partners, with Adam Kaucher joining from Addleshaw Goddard and Victoria Zivkovic moving from PwC Legal.
