Strong six months for online property auction firm

Directors Mark Bailey, James Ashworth, Helen Jude, Kate Lay

A Manchester property auctions firm is celebrating a successful first half of the year.

Landwood Property Auctions – backed by the Landwood Group, a firm of chartered surveyors – launched onto the market this February and has since hosted four property auctions using its dedicated online platform.

The new company has two of the leading agents in property auctions, James Ashworth and Kate Lay, at the helm as directors, with support from the Landwood Group team.

Mr Ashworth said: “We’re already incredibly pleased with our success rates following the first four auctions we’ve hosted, with well over 90% of properties sold.

“We proudly position ourselves as the only professional auctioneer in Manchester that’s really pushing forward with the online method of selling property and land.

“By using an online method of sale we’re offering our clients great flexibility in the process, and more accurate advice.

“With average bidder numbers per lot increasing, taking advantage of the fact they can get involved from the comfort of their home or offices, our clients are seeing real benefits with high success rates, and prices often well in excess of their reserves.”

Among the highlights over the past six months has been one development opportunity, a part-converted church in Ashton-Under-Lyne, which sold for almost £250,000 above its reserve.

In contrast, the cheapest lot sold was a plot in Coniston, offered with nil reserve, which went for £701.

The most expensive lot handled so far was an eight-bedroom house in Didsbury which sold for £700,000.

And by far the most popular during the six month period was a pub in Cockermouth that attracted 33 different bids.

Ms Lay said: “We’re constantly developing innovative ways of delivering auction services that fit with modern, ever-changing client and buyer requirements.

“Underpinning this has been a modern approach to marketing, embracing digital and social media platforms to effectively target buyers across the UK and beyond.

“James and I are delighted that we have attracted top quality clients and we look forward to building the business throughout the remainder of 2018 and beyond.”

Landwood Property Auctions has offices in Manchester, London, Leeds, Liverpool, and Birmingham.

Their next auction is on Wednesday, July 18.
