Steelwork on final building in £100m scheme completes ahead of schedule

The framework for the final building in Elliot Group’s £100m transformation of Wolstenholme Square has completed ahead of schedule.

Liverpool-based Newry Construction has been given the task of delivering the 151,620 sq ft building, which will include 32 studios, 102 one-bed apartments and 66 two-bed homes.

There will be two commercial units on the ground floor, with the developer committed to leasing them to local entrepreneurs in line with its wider strategy for Wolstenholme Square.

“I’m delighted we’re ahead of programme,” said Mick Larkin of Newry Construction.

“This is our 11th building for Elliot Group and we’ve developed a way of working with the client and its professional team that is streamlined and efficient.”

The £40m luxury apartment block is on the former headquarters of social care charity PSS, which Elliot Group acquired in June 2017, and will rise to 11-storeys.

Project architect Mike Gore, of Falconer Chester Hall’s Liverpool studio, said: “Our brief was to set a new standard of luxury and fit-out and we’ve enjoyed delivering on the quality aspirations of the client.

“It’s in a premium location on a quiet street adjacent to Liverpool One and we know from earlier phases of the project that tenants prize this highly.”

To date 310 apartments have been completed and occupied at Wolstenholme Square and a lettings campaign for the development’s ground floor retail and office units has now begun via Worthington Owen.

The Address is adjacent to Elliot Group’s Seel Street Hotel which opened in December.

When completed, Wolstenholme Square will comprise more than 700 new homes, 12,000 sq ft of ground floor commercial space and a new hotel. Construction of The Address is anticipated to be completed by March 2020.
