Scheme for 300 new homes in Stretford moves step closer

Itron Factory

Plans to build almost 300 new homes at the former Itron factory site in Stretford have moved a step closer following the purchase of the site by home builder Miller Homes.

The proposals for 191 apartments and 91 houses on Talbot Road were unanimously approved by Trafford Council’s Planning & Development Committee.

The sale of the site has been negotiated by Savills who were acting on behalf of Itron Metering Solutions (UK) Ltd.

Paul Coggins, land director of Miller Homes North West said: “We are delighted to have officially acquired the former Itron factory site.

“We have worked very hard to develop plans which will create an attractive gateway development supported unanimously at Planning Committee stage.

“Our vision is to transform the site into a vibrant new community in Stretford. The scheme has a bespoke, high-quality design which we hope will become the benchmark for future residential sites in Trafford.

“Now that the sale has been completed we will start to remediate the site immediately with the first sales anticipated in early 2020, however interest in the new homes can be registered immediately via the Miller Homes website – the development is to be called Novus”

Berit Rose, Associate director of Savills said: “This scheme has been approved on the back of considerable teamwork and we are really pleased that the hard work has paid off.

“We are delighted that the conclusion of this sale on behalf of Itron will bring much-needed housing to Stretford.”
