DeTrafford Construction’s first development tops out

The topping out ceremony

DeTrafford has celebrated the topping out of St George’s Gardens in Castlefield, the first of its developments being built by its in-house construction team DeTrafford Construction.

This design-led tower has unrivalled views over the Grade II-listed St George’s Church in Castlefield.

It will have, when completed, 138 one- and two-bedroom homes over 11 floors with each apartment having its own private winter garden.

Residents will have access to a private rooftop bar, outdoor cinema and yoga space.

The Wilmslow-based developer said completion is due for May 2020.

The topping out of St George’s Gardens is a great milestone for the second development in DeTrafford’s Castlefield master plan following last year’s completion of the award-winning Roof Gardens.

Two further developments will be also be completed in 2020.

John Currie, head of construction, said: “St George’s Gardens is our first self-delivered construction project and one that we are most proud of.

“Not only is it ahead of programme, there is an exemplar health & safety record on the project with a real focus on quality assurance.

“I am extremely proud of the achievements on this project which is a testament to (project manager) Sean’s team and the entire supply chain whom have embraced our vision and culture.”
