Mixed-use development approved in Lancashire

The proposed development

Avison Young has gained planning approval on a 25,897sq ft mixed-use scheme in Tarleton, Lancashire.

The development will comprise a food store and an office development, as well as 138 car parking spaces.

The two new buildings will be operated by Aldi food stores and local company GBA Services.

Lauren Neary, planning consultant for Avison Young, said: “We are pleased to have worked with Aldi on bringing forward what we believe to be an important development in Tarleton.

“The site represents a significant investment by Aldi into the area and will vastly improve the retail offer for the local community, reducing travel times and improving shopping choice.

“The development provides the opportunity to transform this currently under-utilised site back into an economically active use and will provide Tarleton with social, economic and environmental benefits both directly and indirectly through the scheme.”

The retail development is set to create up to 50 jobs, including indirect jobs through services that support the food store, while the office element allows local business GBA Services to expand from its current base at Moss Lane in Tarleton.

The planning approval on the previously developed green belt site was supported in part due to the opportunity to enhance the site with more high-quality buildings to suit its surroundings.

The Harris Partnership is the architect on the project and Cameron Rose Associates transport planners.
