Hartford housing development receives planning approval

Proposals for the site

Cheshire West and Chester Council have granted planning permission for a new housing development to be built on the site of the former Hartford Campus in Northwich.

Warrington-based affordable housing provider, Your Housing Group, which owns the site, will build 108 homes in partnership with the Lane End Group.

The plans for two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, including bungalows, are for both shared ownership and rent to buy.

The development will provide much-needed quality affordable housing for the area in a beautifully landscaped setting with public open space.

Remediation work on the site is under way with demolition being scheduled for the Summer.

Richard Jones, director of growth for Your Housing Group, said: “We are really pleased to be able to invest in Hartford with new homes that offer housing choices for everybody within a community landscape.

This development will provide much-needed affordable homes and enable many local people to take their first step on the property ladder through shared ownership.”

Richard Harrison, Lane End managing director, said: “This is a really important scheme for Lane End Group.

“The team have been working hard on this for several months and I’m pleased that Cheshire West and Chester Council have approved our application.

“We are already engaged in the area, building over 500 new homes in Delamere, Winsford, Lostock Gralam, and Helsby, so we know the landscape and are working in the community through our social enterprise, New Beginnings.”

He added: “Our team will continue our community-focused approach to construction which we hope will breathe new life into this part of Northwich.”

Your Housing Group is a strategic partner to the Government housing agency Homes England. This development has been part-funded with a grant from the Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme.

A further application has also been submitted for 20 additional properties on the same site.
