Warehouse plans submitted for former trailer manufacturing site

Proposed warehousing scheme

Wilmslow-based developer and investor Quorum has submitted plans for two warehouses at Broadheath, in Altrincham.

Providing a total of 62,000 sq ft/5,761 sq m, the buildings will occupy a three-acre site on George Richards Way, close to the established Altrincham Business Park.

The site, formerly occupied by the Cartwright Trailer Company, has now been cleared to make way for the development which will provide high quality modern accommodation in a popular South Manchester location with excellent connectivity to the M56 and M60 and proximity to Manchester Airport and the city centre.

Advised by Knight Frank’s industrial and logistics team, Quorum acquired the site in early 2021 after a competitive bidding process.

If planning is successful work could start on site late summer, with completion of both units in the first quarter of 2023.

Knight Frank industrial and logistics partner, Sam Royle, said: “These two new units will provide best in class accommodation aimed at the increasingly active SME market.

“They will help meet increasing demand across the South Manchester market where there is a distinct lack of available modern stock and record low vacancy rates.”

He added: “Whilst already recognised as a primary industrial and office park location, the proposed new primary access point off George Richards Way will help to reposition this site and provide a fantastic trading location for future occupiers with improved accessibility and a high profile business environment.”

Building 1 will provide 3,438 sq m/37,000 sq ft of warehousing with supporting office space and mezzanine.

Building 2 will provide 2,323 sq m/25,000 sq ft of warehousing with supporting office space.

Knight Frank and B8 Real Estate advised on the redevelopment and are retained as joint agents on the scheme.
